On Wednesday, the Allegheny County Elections Division said the company hired to print and mail ballots, 28,879 voters the wrong ballot.
The Elections Division said the mistake by Midwest Direct is being corrected with new ballots being mailed out Thursday through Saturday of this week. They expect voters will have the correct ballots the week of October 19.
The error was reportedly caused by a ballot image mapping error and there were no problems with county data.
The Elections Division said they were first alerted to the problem on Friday, October 9 by voters who received the wrong ballot. Mailing of new ballots was suspended and Midwest Direct was able to identify the error on Tuesday.
The county said the new ballots will be identified on the envelopes.
If voters don't received a corrected ballot by October 26, they can visit the Elections Division office in Downtown Pittsburgh or contact them to have one reissued, but they cannot receive one prior to that date.
