With the Derek Chauvin murder trial behind us, some members of Congress are calling for police reform.

Congressman Conor Lamb tells Marty Griffin on Newsradio KDKA that people in the community are asking the police to do their job in a different way now.

"You know, a lot of police were trained and brought up in kind of a militarized police culture", he says. "They were trained to use their guns in a certain way under certain rules, and as a society, now we are saying, Look, this is too violent, it's not what we want from our police. We want community policing, we want police to understand the neighborhoods that they're walking around in".

Lamb says he was standing right outside of the Capitol when he received news of the verdict, and says he felt proud of the job that the jury did in this case.
