The fire occurred around 1:45 p.m. in Berth 42, and 40 arriving firefighters found the boat with active flames, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.
It took 20 minutes for firefighters to extinguish the flames, which were prevented from spreading to nearby vessels.
"Unfortunately, the damage had already been done, and the vessel wound up sinking after the flames were extinguished," Prange said in a statement.
Two people were assessed by paramedics at the scene, but both declined to be taken to a hospital.
What may have sparked the fire was unclear, and an investigation in underway.
