The money – the $790 million settlement, minus about 35% that will go to the lawyers – has been in the bank since Christmas Eve, but there's some kind of hold up on how to divide it fairly.

A source briefed on the secretive talks tells KMOX News one plan on the table would give the Regional Sports Authority, which runs the Dome one third of the money – plus an extra $18 million to cover the cost of plans for what would have been the St. Louis Rams new riverfront stadium. The stadium never got built before the NFL allowed the team to move.

Under the proposal St. Louis City and County would each get $150 million. But apparently there's some disagreement over that formula, and the mediation continues.

St. Louis, St. Louis County, and the St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority first filed this lawsuit in 2017, claiming Kroenke and the NFL ripped the team from St. Louis in violation of the league’s relocation guidelines. The suit was originally thought to net St. Louis about $18 million at best, but recently some believed – including an LA Times report – that the winnings could have actually reached $4 billion.

Representation for the Rams and the NFL tried to get the trial moved out of St. Louis, claiming they wouldn't get a fair trial. They went all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States, but failed at every step.
