ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - After slightly raising the capacity for the upcoming playoff games, the St. Louis Blues have now announced that even more fans – more than double what we saw in the regular season – will be allowed to attend 2021 playoff games.
Blues announced Friday that the City of St. Louis Department of Health has authorized the team to increase its home capacity to 9,000 fans, or nearly 50% of Enterprise Center. Only 4,100 were previously being allowed in.
The increase in percentage will span all ticket categories, from general seating in the lower and upper bowls through premium offerings such as all-inclusive areas, club suites and sky suites. All tickets are mobile-only, bags are not permitted, and Enterprise Center remains a cash-free environment. A complete list of guidelines and procedures can be found at stlouisblues.com/safety.
"The timing of this good news is serendipitous with the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but it's truly a credit to everyone - our health care workers, city officials, fans and many others - who have been committed to doing the right thing throughout this pandemic," said St. Louis Blues President of Business Operations and CEO Chris Zimmerman. "Everyone with our team, and especially the players, are thrilled that we can have half of Enterprise Center filled safely and responsibly with Blues fans at the most important time of the season. I know our fans will make it sound and feel like a full house, and that's inspiring not only for our team, but for the community as well."
Other NHL teams will be allowing more fans into their buildings. Nashville, for example, is capping attendance at 12,135, which is 70% of capacity at Bridgestone Arena.
Just down Clark Street, the St. Louis Cardinals are about to double its capacity from the current 30% limit.
The Blues road to a possible second Stanley Cup Championship in three years will begin on Monday. St. Louis locked up the No. 4 seed in the West Division and will face the No. 1 seed Colorado Avalanche in the best-of-seven series.
