ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It was just his second time ever broadcasting a Major League Baseball game and St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright is already making lots of noise on social media for his game commentary.

In the late innings of Game 3 between the Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves the veteran pitcher, who was on the Fox Sports broadcast, revealed that about half of his Cardinals teammates believe the Earth is flat and some also think the moon landing was fake.

"I've got a bunch of flat-Earthers," Wainwright said. "Smartest guy on the team, Paul DeJong, is a flat-Earther. Never seen it."

"I've had to battle half my team thinking the Earth is flat this year. And they think we've never been to the moon and all kinds of crazy stuff."

If you've never hear of a flat-earther, it's a group of people who believe the pseudoscientific theory that the world is actually flat, not round.

And of course, there was an immediate Twitter storm after the ousting:

It sure seemed like some classic Waino humor, but often times his jokes derive from some truth. So we'll just have to wait and see if DeJong or any of his teammates defend themselves.
