ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - An 18-year-old is in custody in connection to the fatal shooting of a mother and her 8-year-old daughter in St. Louis. He is also allegedly involved in another killing in St. Louis that happened this week.

St. Louis police say the teen is in custody in Illinois with help of the Granite City Police Department. He was taken into custody for other charges, police announced Thursday.

Police say he's wanted in connection to the killing of Terri Bankhead, 27, and her daughter, Da'Nilya, 8, on Wednesday. Police also say he's wanted in connection to the death of Victoria Manisco, 26, who was found with a puncture wound at a home in the Holly Hills neighborhood on Tuesday.

Below is KMOX's previous reporting:

A mother, 27, and daughter, 8, were found shot to death in north St. Louis on Wednesday afternoon.

The bodies were found inside an apartment on Pleasant Street in the Fairgrounds neighborhood. Police didn't immediately identify any suspects.

St. Louis Police Chief John Hayden says the older victim's mother had been looking for them and discovered the bodies when she got home. She called police around 3 p.m. Family of the victims identify them as Terri Bankhead and her daughter, Da'Nilya.

Hayden implored the public to help find the killer.

"I'm begging the community to assist us in this investigation," Hayden says. "This is a very tragic situation and we are just hopeful that people will come forward so we can hold accountable those responsible."
