Triple shooting in St. Louis County over late night fireworks

ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOX) - A 27-year-old man faces three counts of second-degree assault in the shooting of two women and a 10-year-old boy over a dispute about fireworks. Donald Meek was taken into custody by St. Louis County police after reportedly barricading himself in his home in the 300 block of Goetz Avenue in the South County. He was taken into custody around 5 a.m. Monday.

Investigators say a group was firing off Fourth of July fireworks around 2 AM when Meek got into a verbal and physical altercation with them.

Police allege he then pulled a .45 pistol and fired several shots into the group, striking two woman, ages 30 and 40, and a 10-year-old boy. One of the women was treated and released, the other two victims were hospitalized. Detectives say they found the weapon in Meek's backyard.

The suspect is also charged with armed criminal action and is held on a $200,000 cash-only bond. The victims are expected to recover.
