ST. LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - How many smart devices do you own? A new survey that reveals many American are buying into smart technology.
A smart device is any electronic that can connect and interact with its user and other smart devices. It's anything from a cell phone to a light bulb.
A new survey from Reviews.org shows these devices are moving out of the realm of luxury items and into everyday purchases for more Americans.
The report found most of us own eight smart devices. And people polled said they intend to purchase four new smart devices in the next year.
Smart phones top the list -- 85% of people say they own one. Also, 35% of people surveyed have a smart speaker.
Video doorbells, smart garage door openers, thermostats and robot vacuums are also popular. For all the buzz that smart refrigerators gained, less than 5% of people own one. As for smart light bulbs mentioned, 7% of Americans use them.
