LISTEN: Sen. Blunt looking forward to 'better' family relationships after retirement

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A day after announcing he wouldn't be running for re-election of his U.S. Senate seat, Congressman Roy Blunt says he's thinking about more time with his family over the next two years and beyond.

The 71-year-old has been a U.S. Congressman since 1977 and joined KMOX's Mark Reardon on Tuesday to discuss his announcement.

Take a listen to the full conversation Blunt had on KMOX, here:

Blunt said one thing he's looking forward to doing is being around more for this "important time" in his 16-year-old son Charlie's life. Blunt also has three older children and six grandchildren.

"We've had good family relationships and I want that to be better no doubt about that," Blunt says. "I don't think I've thought about that, until you've mentioned it, as much as I maybe should have. But we're close.

"And this does change the dynamic of the next two years where you're a little more in control of your time. It's an important time and I look forward to that."
