ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOX) - As St. Louis County plans to hold a mass vaccination event Saturday targeting residents in more than a dozen north county zip codes, a south county state representative is calling for vaccinations to be offered in his neck of the woods.

Jim Murphy (R-94) says his problem is not that the county has been holding the events in north county.

"My problem is they're doing it exclusively," he says. "It's a big county. We all pay taxes here. We all should be represented. I think they should continue what they're doing up north but they need to do something in the south and they need to do something in the west."

Murphy says he brought the topic up with County Executive Sam Page during a meeting Wednesday.

"Dr. Page said they're only getting a five-percent registration rate in the north, but they're getting 23 to 28-percent in the rest of the county, which sayst here's a need in the rest of the county and a willingness in the rest of the county. So, force-feeding just north county doesn't seem logical to me."

Page, according to Murphy, told him if he can find a place to hold a mass vaccination, he would get right on it and set one up. Murphy says he contacted the Mehlville School District and they offered Oakville High School as a site. He has passed that along to Page and is waiting for a reply.
