ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It was a chaotic scene inside the Casa Loma Ballroom Saturday night, when a melee with about a dozen people broke out in the ring during a boxing match.
Jay Kanzler, a licensed boxing judge says, the mayhem broke out when one of the boxers, Larnell Clark, hit his opponent, Donte Turner, after the bell rang.
"I believe it was the other boxer's brother who jumped into the ring, started fighting with the boxer, others jumped in, they started throwing chairs into the ring," Kanzler says. "At one point three or four people had the other boxer on the ground and starting kicking him and punching him in the head."
St. Louis Police were called and arrived about 30 minutes after the fight broke out. The boxing commission is aware of the incident, Kanzler would like charges filed to prevent this from happening again.
The venue located just south of downtown St. Louis was hosting a night of about 20 matches. The other fights continued after the incident and Turner was declared the winner after Clark was disqualified.
