LAUSD attendance dropped 2% amid walkout against student vaccine mandates

LOS ANGELES (KNX ) — Parents throughout Southern California kept their children home from school on Monday in protest of COVID-19 vaccination mandates.

Vaccines against the virus are mandated in Los Angeles for students aged 12 and older. The Los Angeles Unified School District is the largest district to mandate vaccinations for that age bracket.

LAUSD administrators reported an 88% student attendance rate on Monday, 2% lower than the previous week. About 2% more missed class on Oct. 18 during a similar statewide walkout.

Walkouts in L.A. County were reportedly concentrated in Woodland Hills, Whittier, and San Pedro.
