2 dead, 4 injured in Lake Balboa crash

Police Friday are investigating a two-car collision that killed a 60-year-old woman and 5-year-old boy and gravely injured four others in Lake Balboa.

The collision was reported at around 9:35 p.m. Thursday  and Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to the 6400 block of Woodley Avenue, near Victory Boulevard, where they found the injured parties, spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.

The 5-year-old boy, who was taken to a hospital in "grave condition" after the crash, later died at the hospital, Fox 11 reported. The 60-year- old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 30-year-old woman, a 28-year-old woman, a 21-year-old woman and a 22- year-old man were taken to hospitals in serious conditions, Stewart said.

According to reports from the scene, a gray Honda driven by the 22- year-old man crashed into a white Honda that the two victims and others were driving in on Woodley.

It was not immediately known if drugs, alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.
