Los Angeles police officers responded to the report of a burglary at the Nordstrom in the 100 block of The Grove Drive late Monday night. Suspects allegedly used a sledgehammer to break through a storefront window and swipe merchandise.

The bandits reportedly fled the scene in at least four different vehicles, leading police on a chase through South Los Angeles via the 10 and 110 freeways. They exited the 110 at Manchester Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. and led officers on a foot pursuit in the Vermont Vista neighborhood.

Officers said they recovered clothing, a cash register, and gloves from a Nissan SUV which they believe is one of the suspect’s vehicles.

Investigators believe several more suspects remain at large — authorities estimated the group that broke into Nordstrom may have been as large as 20 people.
