ANAHEIM, Calif. (KNX) — Anaheim police are investigating four drug-related deaths in three incidents that all happened less than one hour apart Monday, officials said.

The first call officers received was around 11:40 a.m. in regard to a woman found dead in a motel room in the 800 block of South Beach Boulevard. Officers suspected the 39-year-old died from a drug overdose based on paraphernalia found at the scene, according to Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer.

About 25 minutes later, Carringer said officers were called to the 1700 block of South State College Boulevard for a man found dead in a vehicle. Officers said the 41-year-old died from a suspected drug overdose based on evidence found at the scene.

Then just before 1 p.m. officers responded to the area of Anaheim Boulevard and Water Street, where they found three men who had taken opioids. Two of the men, one in his 30s and one in his 50s, were pronounced dead at the scene, Carringer said.

The third man, a 25-year-old, was revived with Narcan — a drug used to counteract an opioid overdose — and taken to a hospital in critical condition.

“There’s no reason to suspect (the overdoses) are related now, but there’s no information available to say they’re not,” Carringer said.

He added that officers believe the deceased all took drugs that were possibly tainted by fentanyl.
