A multimillion-dollar mansion in the Hollywood Hills was vandalized Thursday by what police said was a group of squatters.

Los Angeles Police Department officers were called to the mansion Thursday afternoon after receiving a report of a screaming woman and upon their arrival discovered the squatters at the residence, according to ABC7.

Officers detained several people but did not make any arrests because police were not able to locate the owner of the property and no complaint was filed to begin a criminal investigation, ABC7 reported.

The damage to the residence include broken glass, graffiti, furniture in shreds and trash strewn about the roof and grounds.

Online real estate sites indicate the six-bedroom, 12-bath mansion with a pool and luxury amenities could be worth $10 million or more, according to ABC7. Several sites referred to it as a REO bank-owned foreclosure, meaning it failed to sell during the foreclosure process and is now owned by a mortgage lender, bank or the mortgage investor, the station reported.

This was not the first time police were called to the house regarding a trespassing, according to ABC7. In January 2022, a SWAT team responded on a report of a resident returning home to find a squatter living there who refused to leave. The squatter, armed with a shotgun and accompanied by his dog, refused to leave for hours before police were called and he was taken into custody, ABC7 reported.
