Rivera was sought by Long Beach police in connection with the Jan. 16 fatal shooting of James Lopez, 39, of Bell.

Lopez was shot outside a business in the 1900 block of Willow Street shortly after 10 p.m. Responding officers found Lopez on the scene suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Detectives said Lopez was an employee of the business where he was shot. He was reportedly involved in a verbal altercation with Rivera, who allegedly fired several shots at home. Witnesses reported Rivera exiting the business and fleeing the scene on foot after the shooting.

Anyone with information about the incident has been encouraged to call Long Beach police homicide detectives at (562) 570-7244. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous may contact the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
