LOS ANGELES (KNX) – Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass declared a local state of emergency as the city prepares for more rain and wind beginning Saturday.

Bass said in the declaration that the upcoming storm is expected to “further cripple the city's ability to mitigate cascading impacts of the continuous storms.”

The declaration also comes as Los Angeles continues to recover the recent storm damage, which Bass said “caused extreme conditions.”

According to the National Weather Service, on Monday and Tuesday Porter Ranch and Woodland Hills received about 6 inches of rain, as Bel Air and Beverly Hills received about 5 inches. Meanwhile, Burbank had 2.9 inches and downtown Los Angeles got 2.7 inches.

The storm also opened up a sinkhole in Chatsworth that swallowed two cars, as well as brought on mud and debris flow and caused power outages.
