BURBANK (KNX) - Teachers held a rally before the Burbank Unified School District board meeting yesterday, amid union contract negotiations that are stuck in limbo.
Unionized teachers have been trying to reach an agreement with the school district for 8 months, but the talks are dragging on.
The district has offered a 5% pay raise, but teachers are demanding a 9% increase. They say they do everything for their students, but need to be able to take care of their own families, too.
The teachers may even go on strike, just a month after the three-day LAUSD walkout that succeeded in securing teachers a 21% raise.
Burbank teachers and the BUSD will meet again to resume negotiations in May.
