LOS ANGELES (KNX) — A Los Angeles County Fire Department water rescue crew were attempting to recover a car found in the L.A. River on Tuesday morning amid heavy rainfall.

The fire department received a report shortly after 5:30 a.m. of a rolled over vehicle following a traffic collision. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they were unable to locate one of the vehicles involved and determined it may had rolled into the river.

Roughly two hours later, rescuers located the car submerged in the river under a train overpass near the 2600 block of East Washington Boulevard.

Train operations were shut down in the immediate area while efforts to locate the driver were underway.

This is a developing story.
