Eight people, including a three-year-old child, were injured after a car ran a red light in San Diego and caused a second vehicle to plow into a nearby restaurant.

The collision was reported around noon at the Fresheria restaurant in the 4600 block of Logan Avenue in San Diego’s Lincoln Park area, according to city fire rescue.

The eight injured have been transported to area hospitals for treatment. The child, brought to Rady Children’s Hospital, is not believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries.

According to law enforcement, a 2009 red Mustang blew through a red light at the corner of Logan Avenue and 47th Street, striking another car as it entered the intersection. As a result of the collision, the second car was forced up onto the sidewalk and through the restaurant.

Investigators say at least one of the drivers fled on foot after the incident, and was arrested a short distance from the crash scene.
