CARSON, Calif. (KNX) — The director of human relations for the city of Carson was fired last week on the same day a Los Angeles Superior Court judge signed off on an arbitration award to a nonprofit that accused her of embezzlement.

Faye Moseley, 61, was sued along with her husband, Clifton Moseley, identified as the chair and president of the National Sales Network’s L.A. chapter. Faye Moseley also served as a board member for the organization.

National Sales Network is a 20-chapter national organization aimed at “[meeting] the professional and development needs of sales management professionals and individuals who want to improve their professional sales skills.”

After an audit of the L.A. chapter’s finances in 2018, it was revealed the Moseleys had “willfully and fraudulently embezzled” from the nonprofit by writing themselves checks and using a company debit card more than 80 times without providing receipts or explanation.

According to court filings, the Moseleys were asked to produce documentation to support use of company funds within seven months. When they failed to do so, the Network filed a lawsuit against them last year.

On Thursday, Judge Timothy Dillon ordered Clifton Moseley to pay National Sales Network nearly $62,000 and Faye Moseley to pay more than $21,000 in restitution.

It is not confirmed whether Moseley’s termination from the Carson HR department was connected with the arbitration settlement. City officials have declined to comment publicly on personnel matters.
