CHP searching for Tesla driver involved in road rage incident

LOS ANGELES (KNX) – California Highway Patrol is searching for a Tesla driver involved in a road rage incident.

It happened 8:25 a.m. Wednesday on southbound state Route 2 in the Glassell Park area, according to Officer Roberto Gomez with California Highway Patrol.

“The driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck traveling southbound on the SR-2 just north of the York Boulevard observed a road rage incident involving the driver of a black Tesla and a white Toyota Sedan," Gomez said in a statement.

Dash cam footage taken by the driver of the Chevrolet the Tesla stopping next to a white sedan on an exit shoulder. The driver was seen sprinting towards the sedan and attempted to hit the car before the car drove away.

The driver told KCAL he began to record the suspect to try to get his license plate.

“The guy notices that I'm recording on my iPhone so he tried to chase me down," he said.

At one point, the Tesla stopped in front of the truck. The driver got out of the car with what looked like a metal pipe which he used to hit the driver’s door.

Gomez told City News Service the victim’s dashcam footage is being used in the investigation.

Now, other drivers are reporting similar encounters with the same man in Pasadena, Echo Park and Atwater Village.

Witnesses are urged to call the CHP Central Los Angeles Area office at 213-744-2331, or the CHP Los Angeles Traffic Management Center at 323-259- 3410 after hours.
