EAST LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KNX) — Authorities have identified three people killed in a fiery single-vehicle crash in East Los Angeles early Friday morning. Victims included two teenage siblings.
The passengers were reported to be Abigail Flores, a 19-year-old mother of two; her younger brother, Jahmai Flores, 18; and Julian Mendez, the driver, believed to have been in his early 20s.
The collision occurred near Herbert Avenue and Olympic Boulevard shortly after midnight, according to California Highway Patrol. Authorities said Mendez drove into a tree, causing the vehicle to burst into flames, trapping all three inside.
A truck driver in the area witnessed the crash and used a fire extinguisher to put out the blaze.
All three victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
