Suspect arrested in Compton apartment shooting

LOS ANGELES (KNX) – An investigation is underway following a shooting at a Compton apartment Thursday morning, according to multiple reports.

Los Angeles County deputies surrounded a building in the 100 block of North Acacia Avenue following a call of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to CBS Los Angeles.

The gunman shot at deputies; however, none were injured, City News Service reported.

Deputies said a man who was shot was taken to the hospital, according to KABC.

Multiple outlets reported that smoke was seen coming out of the building at 8:30 a.m.

Deputies are working to secure the scene at this time. SWAT and the Crisis Negotiation Team also responded to the scene. Evacuations were ordered in the area.

Around 8:40, the suspect was arrested, Fox 11 reported.

Fire crews are working to put out the blaze.
