While consuming fruit from infected trees is not harmful to humans or their pets, the quality of the fruit is likely compromised, making it unappealing to eat.

If you find an infected tree in your yard, Victoria Hornbaker from the California Department of Food and Agriculture assures tree owners that they can replace it with a new one - because the disease does not persist in the soil.

Victoria emphasizes the significance of proper tree care, including implementing insect prevention measures and ensuring the tree receives sufficient nutrients to help mitigate the spread of this citrus scourge.

Thankfully, the current infestation has not yet affected commercial citrus trees.
