Driver dead after car slams into San Pedro apartment building

SAN PEDRO, Calif. (KNX) — A driver is dead after a car crashed into a parked car than ricocheted into an apartment building in San Pedro Friday night, according to police.

L.A. police and firefighters responded to a call at the 600 block of West 26th Street near South Kerchkoff Avenue at around 9:35 p.m. There, they found the vehicle, a Kia crossover SUV, that collided with the bungalow-style apartment building, according to L.A. Fire Department spokesperson Brian Humphrey.

The department reported no injuries inside the apartment complex. It was not immediately known how many people were inside when the crash occurred.

The driver, who has not yet been identified, was the only passenger inside the vehicle. Police were still investigating the cause of the crash as of Saturday.
