SOUTH GATE, Calife. (KNX) — One man was injured and two men were killed at a bar shooting in South Gate earlier this month. Over the weekend, family members said Gustavo Martinez was among the dead and they want answers about why the shooting happened.
The family told ABC 7 that Martinez was shot and killed around 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 22 while inside a bar on Tweedy Boulevard, an area not far from his home. The name of the second victim has not been released.

In a GoFundMe created by the family, Martinez was described as a loving husband and father. Family members said he was an avid singer and entertainer who performed under the stage name “El Compa Nachillo,” performing for the “love of bringing songs and music to those that enjoyed his art and performances."
To date, the family has raised just over $9,000 of their $15,000 goal. All proceeds will benefit Martinez’s wife and two daughters as they plan and pay for his funeral and burial services.
Homicide investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told ABC 7 the shootings happened after an “altercation took place in the parking lot of the bar, resulting in gunfire.” No suspects have been identified or arrested.
Anyone with information is asked to call the LASD’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
