A Red Flag Warning is in effect through Saturday for much of Los Angeles County and all of Ventura County, due to danger presented by dry conditions, low humidity, and Santa Ana winds, the National Weather Service said.
Temperatures are expected to reach between 80 and 90 degrees across the coastal and valley areas, with peak wind gusts expected to reach between 30 and 45 mph, with isolated areas gusting to around 55 mph, the NWS said.
The peak winds are expected in the morning and early afternoon hours of each day.
As a result of the gusty winds with low relative humidity, critical fire weather conditions are expected for both counties.
With the warning in effect, NWS urged the public to remember "Ready! Set! Go!" in order to be prepared should an evacuation need to happen.
“Ensure that you are wildfire ready if you live in or near open space," NWS said. "Use extra caution with any source of spark or flame, and expect any new fire to exhibit rapid rate of fire spread and extreme fire behavior."
