ORANGE COUNTY (KNX) - It's a busy time of year for former KNX Hero of the Week Chef Bill Bracken. His team at Bracken's Kitchen is working hard to feed tens of thousands of people over the holidays.

What started as a food truck has turned into a full-fledged nonprofit organization with a mission to deliver "hot and nutritious meals in a fun, and dignified manner."

Founder and Culinary Director Chef Bill Bracken believes, "The right to adequate food is the right to dignity and life." He lives this message by providing upwards of 30 thousand meals a week to those in need.

Chef Bracken tell KNX reporter Heather Jordan that he calls the week leading into Thanksgiving, all the way through Christmas the "30 days of hunger" as the need for his services hits a yearly high.

The team at Bracken's Kitchen provides boxes filled with all the holiday fixings, enough to feed ten people in need of a hot meal per box.
