Gas prices in Los Angeles County are up to $5 per gallon thanks to a 2.4-cent increase overnight.

It’s the first time the county has seen these prices since Nov. 30, according to City News Service.

One driver told KNX News’ Jon Baird the gas price increase affects where she goes.

“It affects how far I'm willing to drive for a job,” she said.

Andrew Lipow, an oil industry analyst, said OPEC’s production cuts are keeping prices high.

“What we’re seeing is the culmination of first OPEC production cuts are now totaling over five million barrels a day,” he said.

He added that California losing yet another refinery at the end of the year could play a role in future prices as well as the heat.
