
LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A homeless man was killed early Monday morning when he was hit by a white van while crossing a street in the Valley Glen area of Los Angeles.
The crash occurred about 1 a.m. at Sherman Way and Bellaire Avenue, according to a dispatcher at the Los Angeles Police Department's Operations Center.
The van was eastbound on Sherman Way when it struck the man who was in the street, she said.
The man, believed between 40 and 50 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene, the dispatcher said. He was believed to be homeless.
Fox11 reported from the scene the van was a early 2000s model, that the victim was not walking in a crosswalk and that the driver drove away from the scene in the vehicle.
