LOS ANGELES (KNX) —Los Angeles County Public Health Department confirmed its seventh case of the Omicron variant on Saturday.
Public health officials said the patient had mild symptoms and traveled within the United States.
Officials added that they’ve contacted people who came in close contact with the patient and some have tested negative, while others are still waiting on results.
“This latest case of the Omicron variant in Los Angeles County underscores how critical safety measures are while traveling,” Barbara Ferrer, PhD, MPH, MEd, Director of Public Health said in a press release. “All indications are that among those fully vaccinated, illness severity if infected with Omicron is mild, reminding us that all eligible residents need to urgently get vaccinated or boosted.”
The first case of the Omicron variant in L.A. County was confirmed Dec. 2.
Health officials advise the public to get tested especially if you traveled for the holidays, and follow mask requirements.
