LOS ANGELES (KNX) — The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors reestablished a $20,000 reward on Tuesday for information relating to the slaying of a Palmdale teenager nearly six years ago.
Supervisor Kathryn Barger recommended re-offering the reward, which centered on the killing of Jacquarius “Jay” Quinn on Nov. 6, 2016. He was found shot at about 8:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of Old Harold Road in Palmdale, an area described by investigators as “deserted.”

L.A. County sheriff’s deputies said the teen had shared a Sunday dinner with family and was last seen in his room at approximately 5 p.m. on the day of his murder. Investigators have not yet identified a motive for the killing.
“This youth was a good kid by all accounts,” said sheriff’s Lt. Brandon Dean in a statement. “He wasn’t a gang member, he had no prior involvement with the law.”
Quinn was an 11th grader at R. Rex Parris High School, where he played flag football, engaged in drawing, cooking, and dancing. He hoped one day to be a professional actor.
“Somebody knows what happened to my son,” his mother, Jessica Quinn, said during a 2019 press conference. “My son didn’t deserve that. He was a kid.”
Sheriff’s department detectives are still working on the case. The reward had originally expired in August of last year, but will now be re-upped for another 90 days.
“The senseless murder of this youth in 2016 is still unsolved and has left his family and the community at large searching for answers,” Barger said in a statement on Tuesday. “I’m hopeful that providing this monetary reward will help us find whoever is responsible and hold them accountable.”
Anyone with information about Quinn’s death was urged to call the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous can contact the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
