LOS ANGELES (KNX) – Los Angeles County will get $53 million for the California for All Youths Jobs Corps, a program that helps to increase employment for young adults.

The program works with state government in 13 cities, including Los Angeles, Sacramento, and Stockton.

The state-wide program, whose funding was included in Gov. Newsom’s “California Comeback Plan”, helps those between 16 and 30 years old who are from low-income areas, coming out of the foster care system, formerly incarcerated, or were in mental health and substance abuse systems get job opportunities, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The jobs, which pay at least $15 an hour, extend from summer programs to yearlong jobs with the goal of creating a path to “long-term jobs”, according to Josh Fryday, the state’s chief service officer told the newspaper.
