L.A. Metro to offer free rides for Tuesday's gubernatorial recall election

The Los Angeles Metro system will offer free rides on its trains, shared bicycles and buses on Election Day, Sept. 14., to ensure voters can cast their ballots in the gubernatorial recall election.

Free rides on L.A. Metro trains will begin at midnight through 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday. Metro's Bike Share system will offer free rides for the first 30 minutes, followed by a $1.75 charge per half hour after that. Metro buses are already running fare-free during the pandemic.

The Glendora Transportation Division, L.A. County Department of Public Works County Shuttles, Montebello Bus Lines and Pasadena Transit will also offer free rides on Tuesday.

Ballot drop-boxes are also available at ten Metro transit locations:

--El Monte Transit Center at 3501 Santa Anita Avenue
--Harbor Gateway Transit Center at 731 West 182nd Street in Gardena
--Harbor Freeway Green and Silver Lines station at 11500 South Figueroa Street
--Hollywood and Western Red Line station at 5450 Hollywood Boulevard
--Mariachi Plaza Gold line station at 1831 East First Street
--North Holllywood Red Line station at 5391 Lankershim Boulevard
--Norwalk Green Line station at 12901 Hoxie Avenue in Norwalk
--L.A Union Station
--Wilshire and Vermont Red and Purple Lines station at 3150 Wilshire Boulevard
--Woodman Orange Line station at 13622 West Oxnard Street in Sherman Oaks
