The first attack happened between 12:30 and 1 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. In that case, a local homeowner reached out to police to hand over surveillance footage of the suspect ushering a woman into their driveway, according to Fox 11.

The second attack was in the 7600 block of Hampton Avenue in West Hollywood, but LAPD did not give more details.

Hodges, a New York man who was homeless in Los Angeles at the time of the attacks, was arrested Feb. 17 in Downtown Los Angeles, after being spotted by a librarian with the Los Angeles Central Library. She told police she recognized him from footage shared by the media.

“Thank goodness this is a tightknit community who looks out for its neighbors,” said Deputy Chief Blake Chow, commanding officer of Operations-West Bureau. “They were our eyes and ears on every block and they didn’t rest until we had what we needed to catch a very dangerous man.”
