LOS ANGELES (KNX) – The Los Angeles Police Department is searching for the suspect in the murder of a 34-year-old man.
On April 8, patrol officers responded to an “assault with a deadly weapon” around 2:40 p.m. on Bonnie Brae Street. At the scene, 34-year-old Sergio Santay was found with a stab wound.

The department said surveillance footage showed the suspect approaching the victim and stabbing him “without provocation.”
“Surveillance footage revealed the suspect ran southbound on Bonnie Brae Street, eastbound in the east west alley, north of Wilshire Boulevard where he encountered two additional individuals sitting in the alley,” the department said.
“The suspect approached both individuals and attempted to stab them before fleeing the location. The attacks appear to be random and unprovoked.”
The suspect was described as wearing a “black fisherman hat with marijuana leaves, turquoise t-shirt, light colored shorts, and dark shoes.”

Anyone with information is urged to call the Los Angeles Police Department, Central Bureau Homicide, Detective Sharman or Detective Gonzales at (213)996-4116.
