Hundreds of Angelenos plan to honor the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks by taking part in the “9/11 National Day of Service” next Saturday.
Annually, 9/11 is the nation's largest day of charitable services, according to the organizers of "9/11 Day." The non-profit is behind organized events on the federally designated day of service.
Locally, Los Angeles is one of their event locations, and 750 people are expected to attend, said Michael Flood with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
“Volunteers will be packing food that will go out for distribution to families and people who need food assistance,’ Flood, the CEO of the food bank said. “It's gonna be a really great day to recognize the 20th anniversary of 9/11 in a way that's going to be giving back to our local community here.”
Sign-ups are still open to volunteer with the food bank at the Convention Center next Saturday.
