LOS ANGELES (KNX) - According to a new poll, Los Angeles voters currently have a favorable opinion of new Mayor Karen Bass, while their view of the City Council is still marred by ongoing scandal.

The California Community Poll surveyed 1,000+ registered voters in L.A. and found that 47% of participants view Bass favorability. However, over half of the respondents stated unfavorable opinions regarding the City Council, with a quarter of respondents answering ``very unfavorable.''

The survey, conducted between Nov. 28 and Dec. 12, also found that 51% believe L.A. is heading in the wrong direction.

Respondents believe Mayor Bass' policies would improve the majority of issues facing Los Angeles:

55% believe in her ability to unite L.A.'s diverse communities
51% think she can improve race relations
46% believe in her plan to combat homelessness

Bass has taken immediate action to address homelessness in her first weeks, declaring a state of emergency as her first official act and issuing an executive directive facilitating rapid approval for affordable housing projects.

Bass seems to fall just short of majority favorability in the realm of crime and public safety, with 43% of respondents believing she would make things worse.

The findings also indicated that while residents are generally discontent with the state of Los Angeles, Bass has the support of a cross-section of Angelinos, with a 15-point net approval rating among Black, Latino, Asian and white voters.

The results cautioned, "Percentages may not add to 100% due to rounding."
