
LANCASTER, Calif. (KNX) — A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a woman who allegedly charged at deputies with a knife Tuesday in Lancaster.
The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. in the 23500 block of Abacus Avenue, where deputies responded to a family disturbance call involving a possibly mentally ill person.

Deputies contacted a woman with a knife and at some point during their interaction, the woman charged at the deputies with the knife, which is when the deputy-involved shooting occurred, according to the sheriff’s department.
Deputies and fire personnel provided medical aid to the suspect, however, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
No one else was injured in the incident, the department noted. The shooting remains under investigation.
