
Los Angeles (KNX) - In a shocking incident, an LAPD sergeant had his finger bitten off during a fight with a suspected drug user on the platform of the Metro Red Line.

KNX reporter Pete Demetriou says the sergeant and two other officers approached the suspect on the train after noticing drug paraphernalia. The suspect was asked to disembark from the train, but things quickly turned violent.
The suspect is said to have attacked the officers, with the sergeant suffering the most serious injury - a portion of his little finger was bitten off.
The suspect also attempted to harm the other officers, but they were able to subdue him.
Unfortunately, doctors were unable to reattach the severed finger.
The suspect was treated for minor injuries before being taken into custody and booked on charges of resisting arrest and felony mayhem.
