L.A. City Council needs to approve it before it can be finalized.

Councilmember Traci Park voiced her support, saying the contract “addresses compensation across the ranks.”

“It makes the investment in recruitment and retention that we desperately need and it finally makes LAPD competitive with other agencies, which is something that we've needed to do for a long time,” she said.

She added she's "cautiously optimistic" that the deal will get approved.

A tentative deal between the LAPD and the union that represents officers, sergeants, detectives, and lieutenants was reached Aug. 1.
