The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public’s help in its investigation of a daytime robbery caught on surveillance video.
Officers responded to the incident shortly after noon on Tuesday at a clothing store located at the 7800 block of Melrose Avenue. The suspect had reportedly just left the shop.
Authorities said a male employee was working at the store when the suspect entered. Believing the suspect to be a customer, the employee approached to assist him. The suspect then threw a number of plastic trash bags at the employee, pointed a gun at him and demanded he fill the bags with clothing, shoes and cash.

The employee, fearing for his safety, acquiesced to the demands. The suspect then took the bags filled with cash and merchandise and fled the scene on foot.
Authorities described the suspect as a 25- to 30-year-old Black man, around five feet and seven inches, weighing about 200 pounds.
Tuesday’s incident is the latest in a string of daytime, armed robberies that have targeted L.A. restaurants and retailers. Last week, a number of arrests were made in connection with robberies at several locations on Melrose.
