L.A. Unified orders mandatory COVID testing before school restarts next week

LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Los Angeles Unified School District officials announced Monday that all students and staff would be required to be tested for COVID-19 before returning to school following the winter holidays.

Testing will be required regardless of vaccination status. Students and staff must show proof of a negative result before returning to school on Jan. 10 for the start of the spring semester.

Information on LAUSD testing sties is available here. At-home rapid tests are available for all students and may be picked from weekends from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at LAUSD grab-and go-sites.

Families may upload test results to their student's LAUSD Daily Pass account no later than Sunday.

Weekly COVID testing for LAUSD students and staff will continue through the end of January as the spread of the Omicron variant intensifies, school officials said.
