A dog rescued from a buoy in Long Beach is looking a forever home.
On Oct. 22, marine patrol and bystanders rescued the Shih-Tzu mix after it ran into the water. A man who saw the dog go in the ocean said he ran after it.
"I approach her very slowly and I'm using like 'hi mami' like you know, 'its ok,' I'm trying to get to her level very slowly,” Thomas Ackerman recalled to ABC 7. “I have never in my life seen a dog and mind you, she's like 13 pounds, ten pounds, walk into the ocean.”
Ackerman said he saw a fisherman on his boat put the dog on his boat and gave it to a lifeguard.
Safety patrol officials named the dog “Siren.” Animal care officials checked for a microchip but said they couldn’t find one.
Siren is up for adoption at the Long Beach Animal Care Services. You can learn more by visiting the website here.
