HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Police arrested a man who witnesses said fired gunshots toward the Hollywood Farmers’ Market early Sunday morning, causing the popular establishment to shut down.

Witnesses called the police around 7:30 a.m. Sunday to report a man with a gun firing multiple shots in the 1600 block of Cosmo Street, the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section said.
Officers arrived and reported finding the suspect yelling and throwing out items from the balcony of his apartment. Police said they found no injuries and spotted no weapon while attempting to contact the suspect.
At about 9:20 a.m., the LAPD reported an active standoff. A SWAT team responded to the scene for the suspect, who had barricaded himself inside the apartment.

Officers fired tear gas into the man's apartment before making entry and arresting him, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Police confirmed they took the suspect into custody around 11:45 a.m. It was not immediately clear if the man was armed.
The situation forced the nearby Hollywood Farmers' Market to shut down operations for the day and post on its Facebook page, "Due to an emergency near the market, we are closed today, July 31. We're glad our staff and vendors are ok."
"If you need to access to fresh food and produce and can travel, please visit our sibling market, Atwater Village Farmers' Market," the post added.
