SANTA ANA (CNS) - A 22-year-old esthetician pleaded guilty Friday and was sentenced to four years in prison, or time he has already served in jail, for human trafficking of an underage transgender victim in Orange County.
Daniel Eldair Bautista pleaded guilty to human trafficking of an underage victim, pimping a minor over the age of 16 and pandering with a minor over 16 for the purpose of prostitution, all felonies. As part of the plea deal from Orange County Superior Court Judge Andre Manssourian, sentencing enhancements for human trafficking of a minor with force were dismissed.
Bautista had credit for 1,460 days served behind bars while awaiting trial, so the four-year prison term has already been satisfied.
The victim, who was transitioning from male to female when coming forward to authorities, had run away from a group home in Fresno and was driven to Orange County, according to prosecutors' court papers.
While living with a friend, the victim learned the defendant was known for sex trafficking, prosecutors said.
The victim asked to get in contact with the defendant to work as an escort, prosecutors said. Bautista agreed to pimp the teen, who was 16 when meeting with the defendant, in exchange for 20% to 30% of the profits, prosecutors said.
The defendant pimped the victim from February 2020 through June 2020, but the teen complained the defendant would not share the profits at times and would make another juvenile fight the victim when the victim did not wish to work, prosecutors said.
The victim said the defendant would also assault the victim when a sex purchaser did not pay the victim, prosecutors said.
