Manhunt underway in Long Beach for suspected shooter

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KNX) — Police are searching for a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a 46-year-old man in Long Beach on Saturday. The shooting resulted from a heated argument that escalated into gunfire, police said.

The suspect approached a group of men in the 6100 block of Long Beach Boulevard at around 9 p.m. Friday. A verbal altercation ensued and the suspect fired on or more shots before fleeing the scene.

Officers responded to the scene around 15 minutes later. Paramedics rushed the victim, Ryan Pearson, to a local hospital. He later was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The individuals involved in the argument fled the scene. Detectives were trying to reach them as of Saturday afternoon.
